Privacy Policy for Played

Polar Pour LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company, doing business as "Played" ("Played," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the Played mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
Account information: email address, password, a chosen username/handle, and your date of birth (used only to verify you meet the minimum age requirement — see Section 8).
Profile information: display name, bio, profile picture, and header/banner image, if you choose to add them.
Game activity: ratings, written reviews, play status (Wishlist, Playing, Beaten, Platinumed, Dropped), and any custom lists you build from Played's standard list types.
Social information: friend requests you send or receive, and your friends list.
Reports: if you report another user or piece of content, we collect the details of that report.
Communications: messages you send us for support purposes.
Information from third parties
If you choose to link a third-party gaming account in the future (e.g., Steam), we will collect the information that platform shares with us, such as your public username and game library, only with your explicit authorization.
Information collected automatically
Advertising data: see Section 4 for what our advertising partner, Google AdMob, collects to serve and measure ads.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:

Create and maintain your account.
Operate core features: logging games, ratings, reviews, lists, and friend connections.
Enforce your chosen privacy setting (Public, Friends Only, or Private) for your profile.
Respond to support requests and investigate reports of abuse.
Maintain the safety and integrity of the App, including detecting spam, harassment, and policy violations.
Improve and troubleshoot the App.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. How Information Is Shared
With other users, according to your privacy settings. Your profile, reviews, and lists are visible to the audience you choose: the public, only your accepted friends, or only you.
Service providers. We use third-party infrastructure providers (e.g., cloud hosting and database providers) to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Game and critic data. Game titles, cover art, and credit information are sourced from third-party game databases (e.g., IGDB). Aggregate critic scores are sourced from third-party critic aggregators (e.g., OpenCritic). These integrations only provide data to the App — they do not receive your personal information.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Played, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If Played is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
4. Advertising
Played is supported in part by advertising. We use Google AdMob to display ads within the App.

What AdMob collects: AdMob and its network of advertising partners may collect device identifiers (such as Apple's advertising identifier, IDFA), approximate location inferred from your IP address, and information about how you interact with ads, in order to select, deliver, and measure ads.
Personalized vs. non-personalized ads: the first time you sign in, iOS will ask whether Played can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites (Apple's App Tracking Transparency). If you allow tracking, you may see ads personalized to your interests. If you decline, you'll still see ads, just not personalized ones.
Changing your choice: you can change your tracking permission at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Google's role: this data is processed under Google's own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and, where applicable, its Partner Sites policy (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites), which explain how Google and its partners handle data from apps that use Google's advertising services.
We do not share your Played account content — your reviews, ratings, friends list, or profile information — with our advertising partners. Advertising data collection is limited to the technical identifiers and ad-interaction data described above.

5. Your Choices and Controls
Profile visibility: choose Public, Friends Only, or Private at any time in Settings.
Individual list visibility: choose which of your lists appear on your profile, independent of your overall privacy setting.
Blocking: block another user at any time; this prevents them from viewing your profile or sending you friend requests.
Reporting: report profiles and reviews that violate our content policies.
Account deletion: you may permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account). This is self-service — no need to contact us.
Photo removal: you can remove your profile picture or header image at any time from Customize Profile.
Ad tracking: control whether Played can use your device's advertising identifier for personalized ads — see Section 4.
6. Children's Privacy
Played requires all users to be at least 16 years old (see Section 8). Played is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it.

7. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account through the App, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Age Requirement
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Played account.

9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at:

10. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by other means before the changes take effect.
